Some words from me
About Engayla
From my childhood in Germany, where I watched my mother recreate Chanel costumes, to my current studio in Seattle’s Crown Hill neighborhood, my journey in fashion has been one of constant learning. The name “Engayla” reflects the German pronunciation of my name, Angela, bridging my heritage with my creative path.
My design foundation began at home, learning garment construction and detail from my mother. After formal sewing classes in Germany and moving to the U.S. in the 1990s, I honed my skills through design and pattern-making courses in Seattle. Years of experimentation and learning from successes and mistakes have shaped my approach to fashion.
Today, I focus on creating garments that blend my European training with the creative freedom I’ve found in America. In my studio, I design pieces that emphasize thoughtful construction, material selection, and wearability, letting fabrics guide the process. My work combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary styles to create unique, handcrafted clothing.
While I’ve explored jewelry and hand-painted leather accessories, fashion design is now my passion. Each piece reflects my knowledge, attention to detail, and curiosity about materials and techniques.
I love connecting with patrons and sharing my journey. To stay updated on new designs, open studio events, and art shows, sign up for my weekly email list here.
My studio opens on select Saturdays, and I participate in juried art shows across Seattle and neighboring states. These interactions inspire my work and help me understand how my designs fit into real life.
Thank you for supporting my journey and valuing the artistry behind each piece. I create for those who seek unique, thoughtfully designed garments that stand out. My designs are comfortable, textured, and made for the individual—not the crowd – BE YOU.

About Engayla
From my early days in Germany, watching my mother skillfully recreate Chanel costumes in our home, to my current studio in Seattle’s Crown Hill neighborhood, my journey in fashion and design has been one of continuous learning and exploration. The name “Engayla” comes from the German pronunciation of my name, Angela, connecting my heritage with my present creative path.
My foundation in design began at home, where my mother taught me the fundamentals of quality garment construction and attention to detail. This early education was followed by formal sewing classes in Germany, and after moving to the United States in the 1990s, I expanded my expertise through design and pattern-making courses at Seattle’s local academies and colleges. Years of experimentation, countless hours of trial and error, and a willingness to learn from both successes and mistakes have shaped my current approach to fashion design.
Today, my focus has shifted primarily to creating garments that reflect both my European training and the creative freedom I’ve found in America. In my home studio, I design clothing that emphasizes thoughtful construction, material selection, and wearability. I let the natural qualities of fabrics guide the design process, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary forms to create unique, handcrafted pieces.
While I’ve explored various creative avenues over the years, including jewelry and hand-painted leather accessories, my passion now lies in fashion design. Each garment I create reflects my accumulated knowledge, attention to detail, and ongoing curiosity about materials and techniques.
